Our licensed professional examines every accessible area of your property, including the attic, crawlspace, interior rooms, and exterior perimeter, using detailed graphing to document all wood-boring beetle entry points, active emergence holes, damaged lumber, and conducive conditions like moisture or poor ventilation. For example, we photograph fresh exit holes in floor joists, map out affected beams in your crawlspace, and identify whether insulation removal will be necessary before treatment can penetrate the infested wood.

After completing the inspection, we remove all insulation from the affected areas to expose the infested lumber for direct treatment access. This critical step ensures our heated Bora-Care application can penetrate deep into every beam, joist, and structural member where wood-boring beetle larvae tunnel and feed, creating the thorough saturation needed to eliminate the infestation at its source.
During peak summer in the Pacific Northwest, adult beetles have finished their emergence cycle and larvae are actively feeding within the wood, making this an ideal time for treatment application that will reach the pest during its most vulnerable life stage. We coordinate insulation removal with our trusted partners, carefully document the scope of work with photos, and prepare the treatment area so the Bora-Care solution can bond directly to bare wood surfaces without any barriers blocking penetration into the galleries where larvae continue to cause structural damage.

We apply heated Bora-Care solution to every exposed structural member in the treatment area, ensuring the product penetrates deep into the wood where larvae continue to feed and tunnel. The heat activation allows the borate treatment to soak through the lumber’s surface and reach the galleries where wood-boring beetle larvae cause damage, creating a protective barrier that eliminates the current infestation and prevents future beetle activity for years to come.
Summer application timing proves ideal because larvae remain active in their feeding stage within the wood structure, making them vulnerable to the treatment that bonds directly to the bare lumber surfaces we’ve exposed.
